Creels and Carvings

These are samples of my creels. I generally make them with covers of whatever exotic wood I can procure, but they could also be left open. Made of hand pounded black ash and then graded for weight, sized and sanded, they are of a basic natural color and can be trimmed vertically or horizontally with dyed wood splints. Colours and textures in the picture are representative but may vary slightly as each log, and each part of a log, is different. Each one is finished with a leather sling and brass buckle. Available either off the shelf, as is, as they are produced, or made to the customers specifications.

    Greenwing teals, partially finished and to be done by summer. Price to be decided. Also a bluewing teal hiding under the desk, partially finished and also to be done by summer. Price to be determined on completion.

  • Basswood

    I have an assorted selection of well dried, rough sawn basswood suitable for carving, available to anyone who might like to carve. Please ask for a quote.

Experience has shown that a working creel is more durable if varnished and then gently washed periodically. Other options, available on request, are to leave the wood natural or to coat it with either tung or linseed oil.

Quotes are in Canadian dollars and do not include tax and shipping costs.

Payment by cheque is preferred.
